Halifax Bus Station has reopened
The new bus station was officially opened by Tracy Brabin, the Mayor of West Yorkshire, on Friday 26 July 2024.

Following a partial re-opening last autumn, all bus services returned to the new station on Sunday 21 July.
In addition to a new travel centre and accessible toilet facilities, passengers will now be able to access bus services from all 19 stands.
Alongside improved facilities, safety measures and better access, the new station enables passengers to switch between bus services more easily.
It also has solar panels, cycle parking, a new “green roof” covered in bee-friendly plants and more green space for people to enjoy.
The scheme has been delivered by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority in partnership with Calderdale Council.

A note about ongoing works
- A 12-month defect period started in March 2024. Minor work will still be taking place to correct known defects, such as hairline cracks in the concourse resin floor, and any other defects that may emerge during this period. This is normal practice for construction projects.

Previous scheme updatesThe new bus station is part of a wider package of schemes to transform the way people travel in and around the town.
It has been delivered through the Combined Authority’s Transforming Cities Fund programme, which is aimed at making it easier for people to walk, cycle and use public transport.
