White Rose Rail Station
Latest updates about Leeds’ new rail station
Latest update
In 2024, construction work on the new White Rose Rail Station was temporarily paused while partners undertake a comprehensive review of the project’s financial strategy following an unforeseen rise in costs.
It is hoped these issues can be resolved with a view to work restarting on site in early 2025 and the completion of the project later in the year.
The station is a major priority for West Yorkshire and we are working with our delivery partner Munroe K to find a solution that means it opens to passengers as soon as possible.
Scheme information
The new White Rose Rail Station is being built next to the White Rose Park between Morley and Cottingley on the main trans-Pennine route to Manchester via Huddersfield.
The new station will make it easier to walk, cycle and use public transport, connecting more people with jobs, training, education and leisure activities.
It will provide improved access to the White Rose Park, shopping centre and bus interchange.
Alongside 80 cycle parking spaces, the scheme also includes better walking and cycling routes for local communities, including to the White Rose Shopping Centre and bus interchange.
The scheme is being delivered in partnership by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, Munroe K, Leeds City Council, Network Rail and the Department for Transport.

A consultation regarding the future of Cottingley Rail Station took place between July and October 2021.
A consultation with operational stakeholders took place between July and October 2022.
The consultation sought people’s views on the proposed closure of Cottingley Rail Station as it will not be possible to maintain the same level of service at both Cottingley and White Rose because they are too close together.
