Huddersfield Bus Station
Our latest £27 million plans to transform Huddersfield Bus Station.
We have developed £27 million plans to transform Huddersfield Bus Station in partnership with Kirklees Council.
The full building renovation will provide passengers with a more accessible, energy efficient and modern bus station.
We are working with Kirklees Council to develop plans for a new entrance canopy, cycle parking and improvements to the public space around the bus station.
Better shop fronts, real-time bus and rail information to help with onward journeys, and improved safety and security measures are also included in the plans.
A “living roof” covered in pollinator-friendly plants and energy saving features, such as solar, are among the environmentally friendly proposals.
Passengers will also be able to access a “Changing Places” toilet, which has extra features to meet the needs of people with a range of disabilities and their carers. The facility will provide enough space and the right equipment, including a hoist and height adjustable changing bench.
People are being asked to have their say on the latest plans between Tuesday 8 July and Sunday 17 August 2025. Visit our YourVoice Website to find out more and take part.
The first round of public consultation on the plans for Huddersfield Bus Station was held in summer 2021. View the consultation outcome report. View the “You said, we did” report.
These improvements are being funded through the Combined Authority’s Transforming Cities Fund programme, which is aimed at making it easier for people to walk, cycle and use public transport in and around Huddersfield. Find out more about the Transforming Cities Fund programme.
