Established in 2019, the West Yorkshire Violence Reduction Partnership (VRP) works with specialists from health, police, local authorities, education, youth justice, prisons, probation, community groups, and many more.
It takes a fundamentally different ‘public health’ approach, which places emphasis on prevention rather than cure.
This sees public sector institutions and communities acting together to help cut violence through early intervention, prevention, education, and joint working.
By continually developing our understanding of serious violence and testing methods in response to the underlying causes, we can put in place ‘protective factors’ to reduce incidents.
During 2024/25 funding from the Violence Reduction Partnership and Serious Violence Duty has:
- Helped reach 15,630 young people aged 24 and under
- Engaged 1,234 aged 25 and over
- Trained 477 professionals
- Connected over 300 at our showcase events
