Serious Violence Strategy
Serious violence has no place here in West Yorkshire – that's why the Mayor Tracy Brabin has pledged to tackle this issue.
Communities are now being given the opportunity to shape the response to serious violence through a major consultation.
Through our online survey and in-person events, people across the region are being asked to share their views, experiences, ideas and solutions on serious violence.
These will then be used to inform the Mayor’s Serious Violence Strategy.
How to get involved online
No-one understands the challenges and strengths of your area better than you do – and that’s why your voice is essential to the development of this strategy.
You can share your opinion in our Serious Violence Consultation 2025 Online Survey.
How to get involved in person
There will also be a series of in-person events across Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield.
If you would like more information about the consultation or would like to receive event details, please register your interest by emailing our consultation mailbox via Consultation.PC@westyorks-ca.gov.uk

How children and young people can have their say
We want to ensure the views of our children and young people are heard and reflected in our strategy. That’s why a child-friendly version of the survey has been created.
This printable survey is designed to support parents, carers, guardians, and organisations working with children in helping young people take part in this consultation and ensure their voices are heard.

Police and Crime Plan
Our vision for West Yorkshire is for the area to be safe, just, and inclusive. We have all seen the tragic loss of life to serious violence on our streets and that’s why the Mayor promised to make tackling serious violence a priority in her election manifesto.
The spotlight in this Plan is part of the journey to make this a reality and deliver on the government's mission of halving knife crime in a decade.
